Linda thought she was reasonably fit when she joined us at 63. After all, she’d been going to another gym for over four years. But something wasn’t quite clicking. She was carrying extra weight and wasn’t seeing the changes she wanted.
Over her first year with us, Linda lost 17 kilograms and has maintained it ever since. More than that, she’s become fitter and stronger than she’s been since her thirties, developing real muscle definition she never thought possible at her age.
When Linda fractured her wrist and couldn’t use that arm for four months, her trainer, Matt, worked around the injury to keep her progressing toward her goals. That kind of adaptability and genuine care made all the difference.
The transformation goes beyond physical changes. Linda has renewed energy, a more positive outlook, and confidence about her future. She looks forward to being an active grandmother and plans to continue teaching well past traditional retirement age.
“I feel that I can look forward to being an active and energetic grandmother when I am blessed with them, and that I will be able to continue to work full-time as a teacher of adolescents, well past retirement age.”
Starting your fitness journey later in life? Linda’s story shows what’s possible.

At the expense of sounding cliche, starting at The Right Fit in my 60s has been a life changer. Never in a million years did I believe I would be where I am now. I thought at aged 63, when I first joined, that I was reasonably fit, after all, I had been going to another gym for over 4 years, but I knew I was carrying a little too much weight. Over a period of a year, I lost 17kg and have managed to maintain it. I have become fitter and stronger, and have developed some real definition. I feel I can take on the world. Even when I fractured my wrist earlier in my membership at The Right Fit, and couldn’t use that arm for 4 months, Matt, my trainer, worked around this to continue towards my goals. For this, I am extremely grateful.
I have a renewed energy and have become a more positive person in general. I feel that I can look forward to being an active and energetic grandmother, when I am blessed with them, and that I will be able to continue to work full-time as a teacher of adolescents, well past retirement age.
My match with Matt has been outstanding! He is understanding and patient, pushes and encourages me to realise my goals. He has shared some great nutrition ideas and has helped me improve not just my strength, but my balance and overall fitness to a level I would dare say I have not enjoyed since my 30s. Matt is genuinely concerned about his clients and takes an active interest at all times. Matt, and the community at The Right Fit have been major players in my transformation - Thank you!
I am currently working on maintaining my present weight, which is my goal weight, and furthering my strength and conditioning.
