Geoff Creighton trains with Taine at our Ponsonby studio, and he is our Client of the Month for July. This is his story, in his own words.
Where was I when I started?
I'd been in and out of gyms and worked with personal trainers over the last 40 years, but after the COVID lockdowns I'd slipped into some poor habits. As I approached a new decade of life, I realised I wasn't in the shape I wanted to be. More importantly, I wanted to take action before age started making those decisions for me.
What have I achieved?
I've made regular exercise part of my life again and have seen real improvements in my strength, fitness and overall wellbeing. Training with a personal trainer has given every session purpose and accountability, and stopped “going to the gym” from becoming something I simply went through the motions with.
What am I currently working towards?
I'm not just trying to be fitter today. I want to stay strong, active and capable for the years ahead. Maintaining muscle, strength and mobility is an investment in my future, so I can continue enjoying life without unnecessary limitations.
What advice would I give someone in the same position?
Don't ever think it's too late to make a difference.
You can often achieve more in a focused 30-minute session with a good personal trainer than you will in 90 minutes on your own. A coach gives you structure, keeps you accountable and makes every minute count, even on the days you'd otherwise find an excuse not to train.
The hardest part is getting started. Once exercise becomes part of your routine again, you'll wonder why you waited so long.
Congratulations, Geoff. A thoroughly deserved Client of the Month for July.
Been in and out of gyms for years and want training that actually sticks? Geoff's story might sound familiar.
