If you've been doing yoga or classes for years and quietly wondering why you're not getting any stronger, Fiona's story is for you.
"Having participated in yoga classes for a few years, I found that whilst my flexibility improved, my strength hadn't and I wanted to try something different."
With the benefits of women lifting weights all over the news, she went looking at local gyms. Ours was close to home, not too big and had a great vibe, so she joined for six months.
After her consult, two PT sessions a week with Jonathan were recommended to start with. Six months later: "I toned up, lost weight and gained so much more than physical benefits."
The group classes became part of it too. "There are also group classes for additional exercises: cardio, stretch, which is always fun to be part of (especially the boxing!) and adds to that inclusive atmosphere that we all appreciate."
On the trainers: "The trainers know their stuff, challenging and supportive at the same time."
That six months lapsed in September. Fiona didn't. "I am still up most mornings at 5.45am, heading to the gym, loving every minute of it."
Her advice for anyone wondering what all the hype is about:
"Just give it a try. It's never too late. I started at 68."
Great work, Fiona. Still out the door at 5.45am and loving it. And well done Jonathan on getting her strong.
